Epoxy is the workhorse of concrete floor coatings: a pigmented resin that soaks into a ground concrete profile and cures into a hard, chemical-resistant layer that is bonded to the slab rather than sitting on it. Done right, it takes hot tires, road salt, oil, forklifts and a pressure washer for years. Done wrong, it peels in one winter. The difference is almost never the product. It is the prep, the thickness of the build and the topcoat.

Not when the slab is diamond-ground, the damage is repaired and the coating is built in layers under a clear polyaspartic topcoat, which is why every coated floor carries a 10-year warranty. Peeling floors are almost always a thin coat over acid-etched or unprepped concrete, or a slab with a moisture problem nobody tested for. We do the prep and we test when a slab looks suspect.
Flake hides everything: dust, tire marks, the odd drip, and the small imperfections in the slab. Solid color is a clean single-tone floor that shows more but reads as a commercial shop. We install both and will tell you which fits the space.
Polyaspartic on about nine floors in ten: a pigmented polyaspartic base coat, Torginol flake to refusal and a clear polyaspartic topcoat. It cures fast, does not yellow in sunlight and takes hot tires. Rough or badly pitted slabs get a polyurea or epoxy base coat first, then the same polyaspartic top. An anti-slip additive is available for any floor.
Yes. We grind the old coating or paint off down to clean concrete, repair whatever was hiding underneath, and start fresh. Coating over a failing coating just fails twice.
No. Epoxy is a coating on top of the slab. Polished concrete is the slab itself ground, honed and polished to a shine, with nothing to peel. We do both. Polished concrete tends to fit warehouses and retail; epoxy fits garages, shops and anything that needs chemical resistance or color.
